About Us
Doctor Examing Patient There are many different causes of memory loss and an accurate diagnosis is essential in order to get the best treatment. At the Stanford Memory Disorders Center, our physicians lead an interdisciplinary team of health care professionals working together to provide accurate diagnoses and guide treatment. Experts from the fields of neuropsychology, nursing, pharmacy, and social work collaborate closely with our physicians allowing them to provide medical care that is both cutting edge and compassionate.

At Stanford the same faculty members who care for patients contribute significantly to research in Alzheimer’s disease and other neurodegenerative disorders. Stanford has numerous science labs that study the basic causes of Alzheimer’s disease and the potential cures. Research in this domain is moving from the lab bench and into animal studies, the final step before clinical trials in humans. In addition to research directed at treatment, there are a number of groups at Stanford working to develop brain imaging or blood tests for Alzheimer’s disease.
